An Old Belief and Today's Scientific World..

Interesting old beliefs which we easily pass on to the next generation without questioning them in today’s modern world reality, such is the incident I am briefing hereby.

Few days back, in the night, I was cutting my nails using nail cutter. My mom saw it and she started screaming on me. She didn’t like that I was cutting the nails in the night. I asked with curiosity, "why?”. She didn’t have a proper answer, but she said “Don’t cut the nails in the night; it’s not good for your fortune/planets and not even good for our house’s fortune”. I was surprised that “Cutting nails is such a dangerous activity”.

My curiosity didn’t stop there. I have searched on the internet and found that, it’s a myth. The actual reality is different. In earlier days, neither there was electricity available in home nor was nail-cutter invented. At that time, they usually use kerosene lamp for the light inside the house and the blade instead of nail-cutter. So there was a high chance that the person who was cutting his/her nails may hurt fingers because of the usage of blade. Before the Thomas Alva Edison invented the electric bulb, this belief was very true and needed to stop ones from cutting their nails in the night. But now, it is not holding any weightage.

When I explained this to my mom, she just started laughing on her old belief and accepted the new reality.

I found that with every new invention and innovations we need to brush up once again on all those old beliefs which we have and remove if they are not applicable in this modern world. So that, these wrong believes shall not pass to the next generation.

I am sure there are many such old beliefs still pass on to the next generation without questioning them in today's world reality. Would like to know such beliefs and investigate them in detail..... :) :) :)
