Necessity and act of adapting new Technology

Its Saturday afternoon, I visited the most popular telecom operator’s gallery to change my mobile billing plan. It’s heavily crowded. There are people come with their application forms and supporting documents for the new connection happily standing in a queue and on the other corner there are customers shouting on the representative as it’s complain handling desk. It seems to me a very balance atmosphere out there…!!!

In this chaos, I happened to observe that an old age uncle was chit-chatting with customer care representative in very annoying way. He was fighting for the extra amount added in his mobile bill for some unwanted service. I get to know from the conversation that they have activated some service by mistake on their touch screen mobile (which they are not so familiar) and because of that the amount was added in their bill. Customer care representative was trying to convince them and making them understand that this has been activated from the customer side, so they were helpless and couldn’t revert it.

This was just one observation, there are ample such observations you can find in our daily life. Such incidents make me think, these new technologies are boon or curse for the people? In a way it’s solve the problem or some time crates problem for the people who are not so good at adapting new technology.

As and when the new Technology is introduced to the market, people become crazy in buying such new stuff. They just bought it for the sake of keeping themselves with pace of new technology or may be some time they are just do show offs. They hardly know about the technology or its actual usage or even their own need. Being into telecom technology, I have observed many times that people are buying new flunky mobiles by spending many thousands, but they hardly know how to feed the contact of the person into address book of mobile. I have seen they keep the additional telephone pocket diary for just noting down the numbers.

Ahhh..!!! Look at this race for newer and newer technology..!!! Where and when it will end or what direction it is taking? Is there any one to guide this or question them that “Do we really need all such high end technologies?” It’s surely debatable.

Innovations are happening due to requirements and problems face by certain category of people or due to some situation. Those categories of people or situations have actual requirements of such technology and innovations, as it solves their problems. There is no mandate that everybody must use all technologies available in the market just because those gadgets are falling in their buying capacity even if they don’t have any hardcore requirement.

Hindu Mythology and their Lessons..!!!

Some of best epic stories which we have studied during our childhood in the history books and a lot we have heard from our granny and grandpa. These stories are still around us in some different format.

Holy books Ramayana and Mahabharata are some the best written stories in the world. Some says its real and some says it’s totally mythology. Let's not go into the discussion about the reality of their existence or maybe we are not supposed to. However, the essence of these stories is much deeper and very helpful to many of us.

Ram's character of being "maryaada purushottama" - supreme glory of mankind, whereas on the other side the supreme politician Krishna's Character are truly create affection in you to read more about the situation they were passed through and the life they have lived. These mythological stories are vast source of lessons if you understand comprehensively and relate them with the current situation of our life and corporate culture.

As a part of my reading material, I used to read “management mythos” in Corporate Dossier supplement of Economic times on every Friday. They have these mythological stories and relate them with the office environment, corporate culture and even our life’s principals. They are worth reading and we all should imbibe them in our life.

These days, i am not able to catch-up with ET paper, so found the e-link of the "Management Mythos" author “Devdutt Pattanaik”. He is great mythologist and his articles are available here.
