The Camp @ Mahuli…..contd...

Little afraid thinking that what I will do there as I am not knowing anyone. As we gathered at the station, I got the idea that nobody knew each-other. I think co-ordinators had planned in such a manner that no group will be there. So everyone get a chance to know each other and make new friends. Thanks a lot to them.

Let me describe the activity in day by day…

First day: After getting down at Assagaon station, they have arranged the open Auto rickshaw to take us to the base village Mahuli, almost 15 km away from the station. A wonderful ride, I can say on the odd-even road giving you a massage on your butts. J After reaching there, I saw all around, there are a temple and a small house. I thought how do we manage here? We put our luggage in the temple than there was icebreaking round - very boring actually speaking. I thought why I am here..? How will I spend my three day here..? Almost everyone has a same thought; I came to know when we were talking to each other.

But from the next hour the adventure began. We all have been divided into the teams (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Fox) and I am a Bravo. Then there is a treasure hunt game. We have to solve clues and that clue’s answer with the co-ordinator and they are out in the jungle. You have to find them and get the correct answer so you will get another clue. A wonderful game, scorch all our energy while running in the heat. After that, a brief lecture-baji on the nature, moutaining and how to manage safety and security of your own self – of course it’s boring but very informative. In the evening, we built our tents as we have to stay in tents. First time I came to know how to build a tent.

On that day, we went into the jungle to collect Lakdis (not ladkis) and then we made Birbal’s khichadi (as we don’t have anything to cover our pan) J . Excellent but fearful jungle ride at midnight after eating self made khichadi.
Day was good but very hectic and tiresome.

Second Day: we woke up around 4:30 in the morning, that really gave me a feeling that I was somewhere in Military camp. We have to fetch the water out from the well and complete your day to day activity. J. Totally new experience.

Then actual adventure begins by travelling almost few km in jungle – Rappelling and Rock climbing. Of course initially there was a fear but after I was in everything was really adventurous. I really enjoyed it.

At the end of the day, they arranged a documentary movie – which is quite boring and I was in half sleeping mode.

Third Day: 26th January- Republican day. In the morning, at breakfast, everybody greeted each other HAPPY REPUBLICAN DAY. Again the adventure began at around 6 in the morning. There is first photo in the last blog which was our destination and we were planning to reach there by 9. Of course it’s a tough ride by passing through all the rocks and climbing up without any support. A wonderful nature walk.

After reaching there, we did national flag ceremony with our national anthem. Different experience altogether, when you were doing all these in the jungle, away from the city life. Then we did conservation activity like - Fort conservation, Graffiti cleaning, Making a path to give direction towards Fort. Also did some environmental activity like Garbage collection, tree plantation – awesome experience - where IT professional having a habit to work in plush offices now they all are working with villagers in the burning heat.

Many more things you can learn from the Nature and this way camping out in Jungle. Participation in this kind of activity sometime gives you an immense satisfaction.

Might be we are not doing many things but a little foot-step of everyone towards this kind of conservation activity may end up creating a drastic positive change in the environment.
